The Rollercoaster is a therapeutic book. It was written by someone in the middle of a demanding degree who had decided that difficulty was not a reason to wait, and it reads like it.

It was a genuinely independent project: she wrote it, published it, and launched it, which is how she came to describe herself afterwards as a fully-fledged author rather than someone who had been published by somebody else.

Readers have described it as jam-packed with energy and depth. The line most of them quote back is the one about greatness being a gift rather than a burden.
